Description

Festive Christmas Tree Rice Krispie Treats made with melted marshmallows, vanilla, green food coloring, and crispy rice cereal, decorated with white chocolate, sprinkles, and pretzel stick trunks for a fun holiday snack or dessert.

Ingredients

Scale

Main Ingredients

  • 5 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 16 ounce marshmallows (1 bag)
  • 3 drops green gel food coloring
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 5 ½ cups rice krispies cereal

Decorations

  • 12 pretzel sticks
  • Christmas sprinkles
  • 4 ounce white chocolate, melted

Instructions

  1. Prepare baking dish: Lightly grease a 13×9-inch baking dish or line it with parchment paper and set aside.
  2. Melt butter and marshmallows: In a large pot, melt the butter over low heat. Add the marshmallows and continue stirring over low heat until the marshmallows are completely smooth and melted.
  3. Add flavor and color: Remove the pot from heat. Stir in the green gel food coloring and vanilla extract to the melted marshmallow mixture.
  4. Combine with cereal: Fold in the rice krispies cereal until the cereal is fully coated with the marshmallow mixture.
  5. Transfer to baking dish: Pour the mixture into the prepared baking dish and gently press it into the pan, being careful not to press too firmly to keep the treats soft.
  6. Set treats: Allow the krispie treats to set at room temperature for at least one hour.
  7. Cut shapes: Once set, slice the treats horizontally in half, then cut each half into triangles to form Christmas tree shapes.
  8. Melt chocolate: Melt the white chocolate according to the package instructions.
  9. Assemble trees: Carefully insert one pretzel stick into the base of each triangle to act as the tree trunk. Pipe the melted white chocolate onto each tree and sprinkle with Christmas sprinkles.
  10. Serve: Let the chocolate set before serving and enjoying your festive treats.

Notes

  • Use fresh marshmallows and cereal for best flavor; stale ingredients will result in stale treats.
  • Store treats in an airtight container at room temperature for up to one week.
  • Do not press treats too firmly into the baking dish to keep the texture soft rather than hard.
