Description

Delicious and easy Turtle Crockpot Candy featuring pecans, chocolate almond bark, bittersweet and semi-sweet chocolates, and Rolos, slow-cooked to a melty perfection and topped with sea salt and sprinkles for a festive touch.

Ingredients

Scale

Main Ingredients

  • 32 ounces pecan halves
  • 32 ounces chocolate almond bark, cubed
  • 4 ounces bittersweet chocolate
  • 12 ounces semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • ½ teaspoon salt

Toppings

  • 75 Rolo candies, unwrapped
  • Sea salt, optional
  • Sprinkles, optional

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Crockpot: Add the pecan halves, cubed chocolate almond bark, bittersweet chocolate, semi-sweet chocolate chips, and salt into a 4 or 6-quart crockpot. Do not stir.
  2. First Cooking Phase: Cook on low heat for 1 hour to start melting the chocolate and soften the nuts.
  3. Stir and Continue Cooking: After 1 hour, stir the mixture to combine all ingredients evenly. Continue cooking on low for an additional 45 minutes until the chocolate is fully melted.
  4. Prepare Wax Paper with Rolos: Turn off the crockpot. Lay two long strips of wax paper on a clean, level surface. Place the unwrapped Rolo candies about 3 inches apart on the wax paper.
  5. Assemble the Candy: Use a tablespoon to scoop mounds of the warm, chocolate-coated pecans and place each mound over a Rolo on the wax paper.
  6. Add Toppings and Set: Sprinkle with sea salt and sprinkles if desired. Allow the candy to fully set at room temperature for about 2 hours before enjoying or packaging.

Notes

  • If almond bark is unavailable, substitute with white chocolate plus 1 tablespoon of shortening to replicate texture.
  • Store crockpot candy in an airtight container in a cool, dark place for up to 2 to 3 weeks or freeze for up to 6 months.
  • Customize with round colored sprinkles for seasonal themes like Halloween (orange and black) or Christmas (green and red).
  • Milk chocolate chips can replace semi-sweet chips for a different chocolate profile.
  • Try different nuts or swap nuts for cereals like Chex or Rice Krispies for nut-free alternatives.
  • Add a cup of craisins to add flavor and texture variation.
