Description

The Dirty Snowman is a decadent adult hot chocolate cocktail featuring vanilla ice cream, Kahlua, dark creme de cacao liqueur, and rich hot chocolate, garnished with chocolate syrup, sprinkles, and whipped cream for a festive and indulgent treat.

Ingredients

Scale

Drink Base

  • 1 tablespoon chocolate syrup
  • 1 tablespoon chocolate sprinkles
  • ½ cup vanilla ice cream (1 scoop)
  • ¼ cup Kahlua
  • 1 tablespoon dark creme de cacao liqueur
  • 1 cup hot chocolate

Garnish

  • Whipped cream
  • Mini chocolate chips
  • Coarse sanding sugar
  • Additional chocolate syrup
  • Additional chocolate sprinkles

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Glass Rim: Place the chocolate syrup on a small plate and dip the rim of the glass upside down into it to coat the rim with syrup.
  2. Coat with Chocolate Sprinkles: Immediately dip the chocolate syrup-coated rim into a shallow tray of chocolate sprinkles until it is fully coated.
  3. Add Ice Cream: Place one scoop (½ cup) of vanilla ice cream into the prepared glass or mug.
  4. Pour Liquors: Add ¼ cup of Kahlua and 1 tablespoon of dark creme de cacao liqueur over the ice cream in the glass.
  5. Add Hot Chocolate: Slowly pour 1 cup of hot chocolate over the ice cream and liquors.
  6. Garnish and Serve: Top the drink with whipped cream and your choice of garnishes such as mini chocolate chips, coarse sanding sugar, extra chocolate syrup, or additional chocolate sprinkles.

Notes

  • Prepare the drink just before serving to keep the ice cream from melting too quickly.
  • You can double or triple the amounts of hot chocolate and liquor and combine them in advance, but pour over individual servings with ice cream just before serving.
  • Feel free to substitute or add your favorite liquors such as rum, coconut rum, Bailey’s, or chocolate vodka for variation.
  • You can also use chocolate ice cream or a combination of vanilla and chocolate ice cream for a richer flavor.
  • This drink is quite rich; the liquor flavor is present but balanced—add more alcohol if you prefer a stronger taste.
  • Use high-quality hot chocolate for the best taste, such as the Hershey’s cocoa powder recipe.
