Chicken and Coating
- 1.5 pounds chicken breast tenders
- 1 large egg
- 0.25 cup milk
- 0.5 cup flour
- 0.25 cup plain bread crumbs (or pork panko crumbs)
- 1.5 tablespoons everything bagel seasoning blend
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1 to 2 teaspoons olive oil spray
Serving
- Dipping sauces, as desired
Instructions
- Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 425 degrees Fahrenheit to prepare for baking the chicken tenders.
- Prepare Baking Sheet: Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or aluminum foil and set it aside for easy cleanup and non-stick baking.
- Mix Egg and Milk: In a mixing bowl, whisk together the large egg and quarter cup milk until fully combined; set aside for dipping the chicken.
- Combine Dry Ingredients: In another bowl or plate, mix together the flour, bread crumbs, everything bagel seasoning, and paprika to create the flavorful breading mixture.
- Coat Chicken: Dip each chicken tender first into the breading mixture, then into the egg mixture allowing excess to drip off, and finally roll it again in the breading mixture for a double coating.
- Arrange Chicken: Place all the breaded chicken tenders evenly spaced on the prepared baking sheet.
- Add Olive Oil: Spray the chicken tenders evenly with 1 to 2 teaspoons of olive oil spray to help them crisp while baking.
- Bake First Side: Bake the chicken tenders in the oven for 10 minutes to start cooking and crisp the coating.
- Flip and Finish Baking: Flip each chicken tender, spray again lightly with olive oil spray, and bake for an additional 8 minutes or until golden brown and the internal temperature reaches 165 degrees Fahrenheit.
- Rest and Serve: Remove the chicken tenders from the oven and let them rest for a couple of minutes before serving with your favorite dipping sauces.
Notes
- For extra crunch, use panko bread crumbs instead of plain bread crumbs.
- Ensure chicken tenders are cooked through by checking the internal temperature with a meat thermometer; it should read 165°F.
- If you don't have everything bagel seasoning, you can make your own by combining sesame seeds, poppy seeds, dried garlic, dried onion, and salt.
- Olive oil spray helps achieve a crispy texture in the oven without deep frying.
- Serve with ranch, honey mustard, or your preferred dipping sauces for best flavor.
