Description
Reindeer Food is a festive and fun holiday treat made with corn or rice Chex cereal coated in a delicious mix of melted chocolate, butter, and peanut butter, then dusted with powdered sugar and mixed with mini peanut butter cups and colorful red and green M&M’s. This easy-to-make snack is perfect for holiday parties or to leave out for Santa's reindeer on Christmas Eve.

- 8 cups corn or rice Chex cereal
- 3 tablespoons butter
- ½ cup creamy peanut butter
- 1 ½ cups semi-sweet chocolate chips or milk chocolate chips
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 ½ cup powdered sugar
- 1 cup mini peanut butter cups
- 1 ½ cups red and green M&M’s
Instructions
- Melt Ingredients: In a medium saucepan, add the butter, peanut butter, and chocolate chips. Heat over low heat while stirring frequently until the chocolate chips are completely melted and smooth. Remove from the heat.
- Add Vanilla: Add the vanilla extract to the melted mixture and stir until fully combined.
- Prepare Cereal: In a large bowl, add the Chex cereal.
- Coat Cereal: Pour the melted chocolate mixture over the cereal and stir until all of the cereal is evenly coated with the chocolate mixture.
- Add Powdered Sugar: Add the powdered sugar and stir until the mixture is completely coated and no longer sticky.
- Mix In Candy: Add the mini peanut butter cups and red and green M&M’s, folding them in carefully until they are evenly distributed throughout the mixture.
Notes
- You can use almond butter instead of peanut butter for those with peanut allergies.
- A double boiler can be used to melt the chocolate chips for better temperature control.
- Store the reindeer food in an airtight container or storage bag at room temperature for up to 1 week.
- To freeze, place the reindeer food in a freezer-safe container or freezer bag and freeze for up to 2 months.
