Ingredients
Scale
Lobster Tails
- 4 lobster tails
- 1 ¼ teaspoon paprika, divided
- 1 ¼ teaspoon Old Bay seasoning, divided
- 1 ¼ teaspoon kosher salt, divided
- ¼ teaspoon garlic powder
- ¼ teaspoon onion powder
- ¼ teaspoon ground black pepper
Garlic Butter Sauce
- 1 stick (8 tablespoons) butter, melted
- ¼ cup chopped fresh parsley
- 3 cloves garlic, grated
- 1 teaspoon lemon zest
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1 teaspoon Old Bay seasoning
- 1 teaspoon kosher salt
- lemon wedges, to serve
Instructions
- Preheat Oven: Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F to prepare for cooking the lobster tails.
- Prepare Lobster Tails: Use kitchen scissors to cut down the back of each lobster shell until reaching the tail base, keeping it intact to hold the tail together. Gently pull back the shell and lift the meat up to rest on top of the shell. Remove the black vein from the meat and rinse under cold water if necessary.
- Season Lobster Tails: Place the lobster tails on a baking sheet with a rack. In a small bowl, combine ¼ teaspoon paprika, ¼ teaspoon Old Bay seasoning, ¼ teaspoon kosher salt, ¼ teaspoon garlic powder, ¼ teaspoon onion powder, and ¼ teaspoon black pepper. Sprinkle this seasoning mixture evenly over the lobster tails.
- Bake Lobster Tails: Bake the seasoned lobster tails in the preheated oven for 10 minutes until the meat is opaque and tender.
- Prepare Garlic Butter Sauce: While baking, stir together melted butter, chopped parsley, grated garlic, lemon zest, 1 teaspoon paprika, 1 teaspoon Old Bay seasoning, and 1 teaspoon kosher salt until well combined.
- Brush Lobster with Butter: Remove 3 tablespoons of the garlic butter mixture and set aside. Brush the remaining butter sauce generously over the lobster tails.
- Broil Lobster Tails: Turn the oven broiler on high. Broil the buttered lobster tails for 3 minutes to achieve a golden, slightly charred finish. Remove carefully from the oven.
- Serve: Top the lobster tails with the reserved garlic butter sauce and serve immediately alongside lemon wedges for squeezing over.
Notes
- Use kitchen shears carefully to avoid cutting the meat while splitting the lobster shells.
- If you don't have Old Bay seasoning, a mix of celery salt, paprika, and cayenne pepper can be used as a substitute.
- To make cleaning easier, pat the lobster meat dry after rinsing before seasoning.
- Broil closely and watch carefully to prevent overcooking or burning the lobsters.
- Freshly squeezed lemon juice adds a bright contrast to the rich butter sauce but can be omitted for a milder flavor.
- Butter can be substituted with clarified butter or ghee for a slightly different taste and higher smoke point.
