Description

This refreshing Peach Iced Tea combines brewed tea with a homemade peach syrup made from pureed peaches, sugar, and honey. Served over ice with frozen peach slices, it's a perfect sweet and fruity beverage to enjoy on warm days.

Ingredients

Scale

Tea

  • 5 cups water, divided
  • 1 family size tea bag

Peach Syrup

  • ¾ cup sugar
  • ¾ cup honey
  • 2 cups frozen peaches, thawed and pureed (or fresh peaches, peeled and sliced)

For Serving

  • 2 cups frozen peaches (do not thaw; if using fresh peaches, slice and freeze until ready)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Tea: Bring 4 cups of water to a boil. Remove from heat, add the tea bag, and steep for 5 minutes. Pour the tea into a 2-quart pitcher and set aside.
  2. Make the Peach Syrup: In a medium saucepan, combine sugar, honey, and 1 cup of water. Bring to a boil and stir until the sugar is completely dissolved. Add the pureed peaches and return to a low boil. Remove from heat and let cool.
  3. Strain the Syrup: Pour the syrup through a mesh sieve over a small bowl, pressing the peach pulp to extract as much juice as possible. Discard the pulp.
  4. Combine Tea and Syrup: Add the peach syrup to the brewed tea, tasting as you go until it reaches your desired sweetness. Typically, 1 to 2 cups of syrup per quart of tea is ideal. For a single 8-ounce serving, add ¼ to ½ cup syrup.
  5. Serve: Divide frozen peaches between 4 glasses, add ice, then pour the peach tea over the peaches and ice. Store any unused peach syrup in the refrigerator.

Notes

  • Frozen peaches work well in this recipe and allow you to enjoy peach iced tea year-round when fresh peaches are not available.
  • Leftover tea should be stored in the refrigerator to maintain freshness.
  • Adjust syrup sweetness to taste for a milder or stronger peach flavor.
  • If using fresh peaches for serving, slice and freeze them beforehand for best presentation and chill.
