Chocolate Layer
- 12 oz milk chocolate chips
Crunchy Layer
- 8 oz pretzels (half of a 16 oz bag)
Caramel Layer
- 11 oz Kraft caramels, unwrapped
- 2 tbsp heavy cream
Instructions
- Prepare baking sheet. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and set aside to prepare for assembling the bark.
- Melt chocolate. Melt the milk chocolate chips in the microwave in 30 second intervals, stirring well between each interval until smooth and fully melted.
- Spread chocolate base. Spread two-thirds of the melted chocolate evenly over the parchment-lined baking sheet, creating a chocolate base layer.
- Add pretzels. Arrange pretzels evenly over the melted chocolate and gently press them into the surface to ensure they stick.
- Melt caramel mixture. Melt the unwrapped caramels together with heavy cream in the microwave for 2 minutes, stirring halfway to combine into a smooth caramel drizzle.
- Drizzle caramel. Evenly drizzle the melted caramel mixture over the pretzel layer for a luscious salted caramel touch.
- Top with remaining chocolate. Drizzle the remaining one-third of melted chocolate over the caramel and pretzels to finish the layered look.
- Chill and set. Place the baking sheet in the refrigerator and chill until the bark is fully set and firm, approximately 1 hour.
Notes
- Use parchment paper to prevent sticking and make removal easier.
- Gently pressing pretzels into chocolate helps them stay in place when the bark breaks.
- For a stronger salted caramel flavor, sprinkle a pinch of sea salt over the caramel before chilling.
- If preferred, caramels can be melted on stovetop using low heat and stirring constantly.
- Store the bark in an airtight container in the refrigerator to maintain freshness and crispness.
