Description

Crispy baked sweet potato fries served with a luscious, creamy toasted marshmallow dip. This easy-to-make side dish combines the natural sweetness and slight earthiness of sweet potatoes with a unique sweet and fluffy marshmallow sauce, perfect for snacking or as a fun accompaniment to your meals.

Ingredients

Scale

For the Sweet Potato Fries

  • 4 sweet potatoes peeled and cut into sticks
  • 3 tablespoons olive oil
  • Sea salt to taste

For the Toasted Marshmallow Dip

  • 1/2 bag marshmallows (about 7 ounces)
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Sweet Potatoes: Put the sweet potato wedges into a large bowl. Add olive oil and sea salt. Toss thoroughly to coat each piece evenly.
  2. Arrange on Baking Sheet: Line one or two baking sheets with tin foil or parchment paper. Spread the sweet potatoes out in a single layer to ensure even cooking.
  3. Bake the Sweet Potatoes: Preheat your oven to 475 degrees Fahrenheit. Place the baking sheet(s) with sweet potatoes in the oven and bake for 30 minutes, depending on the thickness of your fries, until crispy and golden.
  4. Prepare Marshmallows for Toasting: While the fries bake, line a cake pan with tin foil and arrange the marshmallows in a single layer for even toasting.
  5. Toast the Marshmallows: Add the marshmallows to the oven alongside the sweet potatoes during the last 5 minutes of baking. Toast until they puff up and begin to brown lightly for a toasted flavor.
  6. Blend the Dip: Remove the toasted marshmallows and transfer them to a blender. Add the heavy cream and blend until smooth and creamy. Scrape down the sides as needed and add more cream to thin if desired.
  7. Season and Serve: Remove the sweet potato fries from the oven, check seasoning, and add extra salt if needed. Serve the fries warm with the toasted marshmallow dip on the side for dipping.

Notes

  • Use parchment paper for easier cleanup and to prevent sticking.
  • Adjust the baking time based on the thickness of your fries to avoid sogginess or burning.
  • For a thinner dip, gradually add more heavy cream while blending.
  • The toasted marshmallow dip can also be served warm or at room temperature depending on preference.
  • Sea salt enhances the sweet flavor of the fries and balances the sweetness of the dip.
